On August 21, 2025, the Tourism Subcommittee of the Hokuriku Future Co-Creation Forum held its second meeting of the “Tourism DX Promotion Working Group” in Kanazawa City.
This working group is coordinated by the Kanazawa University Frontier Institute of Tourism Sciences . It brings together a diverse range of stakeholders—including universities, local governments, tourism organizations, and private companies—to promote digital transformation (DX) in the tourism sector across the three Hokuriku prefectures: Toyama, Ishikawa, and Fukui. The initiative aims to tackle challenges from a broad regional perspective.
In the first half of the meeting, participants reported and exchanged opinions on the status of collaboration among tourism data platforms in the three prefectures, as well as on the use of tourism DX to boost inbound demand and promote cycle tourism. In the second half, universities (University of Toyama, University of Fukui, Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology, and Kanazawa University), local governments, tourism federations, and private companies shared case studies of their initiatives.
The Tourism Subcommittee of the Hokuriku Future Co-Creation Forum will continue to promote wide-area collaboration through tourism DX, with the aim of sharing the region’s appeal both domestically and internationally.
